Coach Kwasi Appiah says he bears no grudges towards Ghana outcasts Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari.
Both players were suspended from the national team during his first stint.
Appiah qualified and led Ghana to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and was faced monetary challenges out of which some camp incidents escalated to the point of the coach and Ghana FA stamping their authority by suspending the two players indefinitely for misconduct.
The coach, at his unveiling in Accra on Tuesday, said the two players can be considered for selection if needed.
“…People should know my character by now. I’m the kind of guy who does not harbor anything,” Appiah said on the incidents of 2014.
“Once the person is a Ghanaian and the person is doing well, I have no problem. It is my nation’s [interest] first. Irrespective of whatever I think, we must look at what can help the nation…
“If Kevin and Sulley are doing well and the technical team feel they can help us to be successful, why not [invite them]?
“I’m always looking at the nation first. It’s not about me. Let’s look at that interest first and not about an individual. We should not look at what an individual or a group of people have done but the nation first,” the returning Black Stars boss reiterated.
Boateng who has been in top form with Spanish side Las Palmas was axed from the Ghana camp because of "vulgar verbal insults” targeted at Appiah during a training ground altercation while Muntari was also frozen out of the team for “an unprovoked physical attack” on an FA executive committee member during a meeting to resolve a possible player mutiny over World Cup bonus payments. The Pescara midfielder apologized for his actions last year.
Kwasi Appiah’s first game on return as Ghana coach is a 2019 Afcon qualifier at home to Ethiopia in June.
